I recently added ‘mindfulness meditation teacher’ to my list of credentials. The seed of inspiration for doing this course was planted 20 years ago. I was on the edge of my seat listening to the amazing Dr Ian Gawler who recovered from Stage 4 bone cancer and now has a foundation that teachers Lifestyle Medicine. The prerequisite for this course was having an establish meditation practice and an interview process. I spent an intensive week at The Gawler Cancer Foundation being lead by the humble Paul Bedson. Paul co-authored with Dr Ian Gawler, Mindfulness – An Indepth Guide. Details below on their book.

What is mindfulness;
”Mindfulness means paying attention in a particular way: on purpose, in the present moment and non-judgementally” Jon Kabat Zinn. I love this 3 min clip where Jon explains mindfulness.

”Choosing to be present” Paul Bedson.

These are my motivators for practicing mindfulness meditation;
To maintain good energy levels
To strengthen my immune system
Improve mental clarity and concentration
To develop emotional resilience, responding to life events with more ease
Having more presence in my daily life enable me to experience more joy
